MFIQ| Multifamily Indexed Equity, LP invests in multifamily property partnerships by employing a unique and patented structure. MFIQ’s equity purchase/partnering structure de-levers the property and leaves the current management in place with proper incentives to perform. MFIQ receives cash flows that are indexed to the property’s local rent inflation. MFIQ creates wealth by purchasing property cash flows at the private market PE ratio (private market Net Asset Value) and issuing shares that trade at a higher public PE ratio (public premium to NAV). MFIQ delivers inflation-protected returns to its investors. MFIQ is actively seeking a seasoned CFO to lead the company through an IPO and lead the company post-IPO. Following the IPO, MFIQ will be a self-managed public REIT expected to grow to billions of dollars in assets under management.
MFIQ CFO
MFIQ’s CFO is responsible for the financial operations of the company. S/he is a critical part of the management team, reports to MFIQ’s CEO, and supports him in reporting to the Board and key investor and partner groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide financial leadership to MFIQ in the best interests of its stakeholders.
- With the CEO, ensure the development and implementation of a strategic plan for MFIQ to maximize shareholder value consistent with sustainable business practices, and recommend
it and report progress against it to the Board for review and, in the Board’s discretion, approval.
- With the CEO, ensure the development and implementation of an annual operating plan including business plans, operational requirements, organizational structure, staffing and budgets that support the strategic plan.
- With the CEO, provide the Board assurance that the proper systems are in place to
identify and manage business risks and that such risks are acceptable to MFIQ and
are within the guidelines established by the Board’s Finance and Audit Committees.
- Establish accounting consolidation procedures, systems, and processes for Equity JVs. Work closely with SVP, Investments to establish property performance tracking data measures and reporting.
- Select appropriate accounting systems and work with selected accounting firm
(Ernst & Young) for audits and other firms for independent financial reporting
- Establish and manage entity level accounting procedures and processes for financial reporting to private equity investors
- Prepare the company for public company accounting and financial reporting responsibilities in anticipation of an IPO.
- Manage tax accounting, depreciation, and reporting responsibilities in conjunction with selected accountants and ensure that all financial activities are GAAP compliant
- Be the company’s main conduit to public and private capital markets ( equity and debt)
- Participate with the CEO and SVP, Investments in Equity JV deal flow and capital raising from Life Insurance Cos, Private Families, Pension Funds, Endowments, and Sovereign wealth funds
- With the CEO, ensure the accuracy, completeness, integrity and appropriate disclosure
of MFIQ’s financial statements and other financial information through appropriate
policies and procedures.
- With the CEO, lead the growth of MFIQ business in a profitable and sustainable
manner.
- Create accretion and assure adequate liquidity for the operation.
- Serve as an external spokesperson and liaison for MFIQ, including effectively
managing relations with MFIQ’s external stakeholders, especially stakeholders
in the financial and investment communities.
- Be a community leader and ensure that MFIQ makes and keeps appropriate
commitments to the well-being and improvement of the communities in which
it operates.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive management experience culminating in a C-level financial role at a publicly traded real estate company
- The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader, with a record of achieving results individually and through others; an intelligent, strategic thinker and tactical executor with proven ability to achieve plans while maintaining the highest ethical standards
- Broad knowledge and experience in commercial real estate (particularly multifamily) with 15+ years of business experience in this market and a minimum of 10 years at the executive level
- Seasoned management professional with strong finance and corporate strategy acumen
- Hands-on performer- willing and capable of building a finance function to attain industry leadership needed to prepare and lead the business through an IPO
- Excellent communication skills, with the capability of articulating the company’s financial Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
- Must possess an entrepreneurial business spirit and be able to thrive in a rapid growth, nimble environment where change is the norm.

MFIQ Executive Vice President, Investments
MFIQ’s EVP, Investments is responsible for the Investment and Asset management functions of the company. S/he is a critical part of the management team, reports to MFIQ’s CEO, and supports him in reporting to the Board and key investor and partner groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide investment leadership to MFIQ in the best interests of its stakeholders.
- With the CEO, ensure the development and implementation of a strategic plan for MFIQ to maximize shareholder value consistent with sustainable business practices, and recommend
it and report progress against it to the Board for review and, in the Board’s discretion, approval..
- With the CEO, provide the Board assurance that the proper systems are in place to
identify and manage business risks and that such risks are acceptable to MFIQ and
are within the guidelines established by the Board’s Finance , Audit and Investment Committees.
- Establish and execute multifamily Preferred Equity Joint Venture underwriting and due diligence criteria, and originate equity JV partnerships in conjunction with legal counsel.
- Establish and execute pricing methodologies to match cost of capital to risk, while maintaining competitiveness with other capital market alternatives
- Establish and execute asset management processes and procedures to manage or outsource for newly originated Indexed Preferred equity JVs
- Establish multifamily investment research capability to select best rent growth performing sub-markets in the top 25 US multifamily markets
- Participate with the CEO and CFO in Equity JV deal flow and capital raising from Life Insurance Cos, Private Families, Pension Funds, Endowments, and Sovereign wealth funds
- With the CEO, lead the growth of MFIQ business in a profitable and sustainable
manner
- Utilize indexes that meet or beat overall inflation
- Negotiate directly with owners
- Create great deals while developing and maintaining a great business relationship
- Serve as an external spokesperson and liaison for MFIQ, including effectively
managing relations with MFIQ’s external stakeholders, especially stakeholders
in the investment communities
- Be a community leader and ensure that MFIQ makes and keeps appropriate
commitments to the well-being and improvement of the communities in which
it operates
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience culminating in a senior acquisition and asset management role at a publicly traded real estate company
- The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader, with a record of achieving results individually and through others; an intelligent, strategic thinker and tactical executor with proven ability to achieve plans while maintaining the highest ethical standards
- Broad knowledge and experience in commercial real estate (particularly multifamily) with 10+ years of business experience in this market and a minimum of 7 years at the executive level
- Excellent negotiation skills and a proven track record of deals.
- Seasoned management professional with strong financial, real estate value, and asset management acumen
- Hands-on performer- willing and capable of building an investment management and asset management function to attain industry leadership needed to prepare and lead the business through an IPO
- Excellent communication skills, with the capability of articulating the company’s investment strategies to the investment community
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
